Dominick’s Story

DIGNITY AND PRIVACY

Dominick* was a typical pre-teen boy; he wanted his privacy. Unfortunately, Dominick’s home had one small bathroom with a tub that his mom had to lift him into from his power wheelchair
every evening. The older he got, the more embarrassed he became. Hoping for some support to make their home more accessible, Dominick and his parent’s reached out to the Jackson Center for Independent Living (JCIL). With some creative thinking and research, JCIL found the help Dominick needed. Now Dominick bathes alone, enjoying his independence and singing–as we all like to do – loudly and joyfully in the shower.
